If you view the source code, your server probably either doesnt have PHP support, or doesnt support
the <b>.php</b> file extension. See your Server Administrator to fix this problem.
Check that the PHP version in the first purple block is <b>4.1.2 or above</b>.
Otherwise you don't have the required version of <b>PHP</b>, sorry.
In the next block, in section <b>Configure Command</b>, check that the command
contains <b>--with-pgsql</b>, otherwise your existing PHP does'nt have the PostgreSQL support.

this tool is required to make the Registration System work properly,

Running GNUworld needs an IRC (P10 Protocol compliant) server ready to welcome it.
We recommend the use of the latest <b>ircu2.10.x</b> from Undernet's Coder-comittee.
Latest known STABLE version is <b>ircu2.10.12.08</b>, please visit <a href="http://coder-com.undernet.org/" target=_blank>http://coder-com.undernet.org/</a>
to get information on how to download and install it.
We will assume you have set up an <b>ircu2.10.12.08</b> server for the example.
Edit the file <b>GNUworld.conf</b> in the <b>/home/gnuworld/gnuworld/bin/</b> directory,
and define the properties of the GNUWorld Oper Service server here.
<b>*** WARNING ***</b>: The default <b>numeric</b> for the GNUWorld Oper Service server is <b>51</b>,
if you already have a Server linked on your network using that numeric,
GNUworld will not be able to link, and complain about <b>NUMERIC COLLISION</b>...
you need, if so, to pick a new numeric, not already in use onto your IRC Network.
<b>uplink</b> must be the numerical IP of the IRC server GNUworld will link to
This server <b>needs</b> to be compiled as a <b>HUB</b> (see ircu installation documentation).
You can use <b>127.0.0.1</b> if your IRC server is on the same machine as GNUworld.
We will assume the IP to be <b>192.168.0.1</b>.
<b>port</b> this should usually be kept at <b>4400</b>. It is the <b>server port</b> to which
GNUworld will try to connect to when linking to <b>uplink</b>.
<b>password</b> this can be anything you want, avoid using weird chars,
it's just the password GNUworld will use to authenticate itself when linking to <b>uplink</b>,
this will also be the C:Line password on <b>uplink</b>.
We will assume the password to be <b>testlink</b>.
<b>name</b> This will be the server name of the GNUworld Oper Service server, keep it in mind,
we will assume it is <b>services.undernet.org</b>.
<b>description</b> Put whatever you want here, it will just be the server comment
in the <b>/whois X</b> or <b>/whois Uworld</b> outputs.
Do not change <b>maxclients</b>.
At this step you should have finished editing <b>GNUworld.conf</b>, save it.
Now, right before trying to run GNUworld, you need to setup your C:Lines, H:Lines and U:Lines on
your IRC server(s) in order for GNUworld to be able to operate normally.

This is because the config.inc value is only a "default" one you can restore when you want.
When you *FIRST* run the website, and when no "number of supporters required" value is yet set
in the database, it reads it from config.inc and stores it as "first default" in the databse,
but then, if it exists and has a value in the database, it will NEVER re-read it from the config.inc file
unless you specifically ask for it in the 'ACL Manager' page, this is also the place where you can,
and should change that value when it has already been set once.
To modify this you need a "coder" level (901 or above), go to 'ACL Manager' page, ensure that
the "New Regs" are <b>LOCKED</b>, then click on the <b>[Modify]</b> button on the right of the
"Required number of supporters", you can here, either reset database value to the current config.inc's one,
or set it to something else between 0 and 10.
When done, have the "New Regs" unlocked and you have it (dont forget to eventually reload the Channel Registration
Page in order to correctly see the changes).

moved to the database instead of being stored in a cookie, this implied changes about the database,

schema modification ...
For people upgrading from a version that still had the <b>WebAxs</b> link in the left menu,
to the new website version, the one with <b>ACL Manager</b>... you need to :

This feature was added recently, in order to handle it properly you need
the latest CVS version of GNUworld (mod.cservice) and of the website.
If the errors are complaining about a "notes" thing missing somewhere, it's probably because
that new table is not created in your remote database structure (cservice):
Run <b>psql cservice</b> and type the following at the <b>cservice:=#</b> prompt :

Upgrading GNUworld or the website can be done easily if a few rules are followed, sometimes,
just in case you get a weird error, have a look at this page first, you may find very usefull
information here.
This page assumes that you have installed GNUworld using <a href="./?s=1">our guide</a>.
Quite all the times, there's a problem after upgrading GNUworld and/or website,
the problem comes from the database schema that is outdated because you haven't updated it aside.
If any db schema occur, you will see that the files in <b>gnuworld/doc</b> directory, will have
some change (when you <b>cvs update -d</b>), if there's is any then you need to ensure your
database structure is correct by :
- watching changed/added files in <a href="http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/gnuworld/gnuworld/doc/" target=_blank><b>gnuworld/doc</b></a>
- watching <a href="http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/gnuworld/gnuworld/mod.cservice/RELEASE.NOTES" target=_blank><b>gnuworld/mod.cservice/RELEASE.NOTES</b></a>
and apply eventual patches or sql script you would need to.
